Twenty-four executives from Brands and Retailers toured 7 mills during week and also participated in the AAPN Carolina Regional Event on April 2nd in Charlotte.

Comments from the week:

  • This tour fills in the blanks between terms and processes you learn about in school and hear mentioned in the industry and the actual manufacturing process. I can now ask informed questions using industry terms with confidence. If I am still unsure of a process, I have the contacts to sort it out. Miranda Tidwell,Materials Developer, VF Workwear
  • AAPN 2019 Carolina mill tour was educational, insightful & enjoyable. Continued learning is the key to improving. We need to have our biggest assets (People) continue to grow in knowledge, continue to innovate, solve needs & serve our consumers with highest product & service standards, whilst optimizing supply chains to do it more efficiently & sustain-ably each day. Dilshan Desilva, Sr Mgr - Western Hemisphere Sourcing, Global Communications & Product Integrity, Jockey International
  • The best part of the mill tour is being around passionate people. People that want to learn and grow. Seeing someone’s face the first time they walk into a plant. Unfortunately, you don’t see this type of passion every day in the office. Since this tour, I view my role in a different light. I now have a better understanding of the overall supply chain and even more of an appreciation for the hard-working manufacturers that make this industry possible. I’m very grateful for the experience! Meagan Cowles, Materials Developer, VF Workwear
  • As an industry newbie, this tour was very informative and an eye-opening look into one of the most critical parts of the supply chain. Avery Davis, Production Manager, Haggar Clothing Company
