Thanks to longtime member Jay Hertwig of Unifi we have scheduled an extraordinary hour with a remarkably experienced senior business executive, Al Carey, Executive Chairman off the Unifi Board of Directors.  Jay will introduce Al and provide some insight into Unifi and it's positioning for 2021.

Al is a veteran of 45 years in leading companies. After starting at Proctor & Gamble out of the University of Maryland, Al rose to become CEO of PepsiCo North America, a role he held until his retirement from PepsiCo in March 2019. He is a multi-decade PepsiCo veteran with experience across snacks and beverages, and was responsible for leading North America Beverages, Frito-Lay North America and Quaker Foods North America.

Al has agreed to cover four topics we can ALL learn from to become better executives including:

1. Servant leadership, building teams, especially front line employees
2. Creation of an innovation pipeline of at least 10% new products or services a year
3. Learning to listen to your customers, finding out what is important to them
4. Given that the textile/apparel industry is a mature business, Al will share his initial impressions of Unifi and today's consumer demand for traceability and transparency. He will also comment on how we need prepare to get our people back up to speed after the pandemic settles and how to raise their confidence.

“Brands and retailers have realized that ensuring future growth depends on adopting the circular economy and making significant commitments to recycled PET,” said Carey. “I look forward to the opportunity to work more closely with the talented executive team and passionate employees at Unifi in accelerating innovation and profitable growth to sustain its leadership position and leading role in the industry transformation.”
